Kids' Backporch Productions is a theatre workshop for kids to learn their craft while working on full-scale productions.
Professional performances conclude the end of every eight-week session (during the summer, KBP has 1-week camp options and a 3-week camp).

Summer 2020
Due to COVID-19, our originally scheduled Summer camps have been cancelled.
Instead of our traditional summer productions we are pleased to offer virtual classes for the months of June and July. We have three of our 2019 directors (Becky Richert & Jade Williamson from Matilda and Lisa Maxwell from The Phantom Tollbooth) returning along with Jill Maxwell to instruct a wide range of virtual courses. All courses will meet via Zoom virtual meetings on Monday, Wednesday and Friday and will be 60 -90 minutes depending upon the course. This week students will engage in scene work from a variety of classic plays and literature. Students will be engaged with learning and understanding actor warm-ups, games, and exercises; Learn stage skill; create and build a prop; create and build a mask; create costuming ideas for their character; experience story telling as a group and as an individual; practice pantomime skills; improvisation; (possible readers theatre); Learn group choreography from a song in a musical.

To make it more difficult, they attempt to combine them into one gigantic fable using Rapunzel, Rumpelstiltskin, Hansel and Gretel, Snow White, Sleeping Beauty, Cinderella and other more obscure stories like Lean Lisa and The Devil's Grandmother.

August Camp
KBP is pleased to announce our plans for Summer. We will have in-person camps for kids ages 6 (must be able to read) to 18.
State and/or CDC recommended practices will be used for camp and theater experiences.
KBP summer safety protocol:
- Temperature checks will be taken each morning at entry.
- Hand sanitizing is required at entry and throughout the day.
- Social distancing measures will be followed throughout camp.
- For the safety of our campers, we will continue to require the use of masks/facial coverings when social distancing is not possible.
One Week Camps
KBP will be offering new One-week mini camps. Campers can choose to attend any or all of the individual weeks.
Camps will be Monday-Friday from 9AM-5PM

- Each one-week mini camp will have a different theme
- All campers will bring a snack, sack lunch and water bottle each day.
- Students will audition for class roles the first day of camp.
- Camps will end with a showcase featuring the campers performing for their family and friends.
Cost is $225/mini camp.
A 10% discount is available for signing up for multiple camps or for family siblings from the same household signing up.
Early morning care is available at 8am for an additional fee of $40/week.
